North Berwick Novice Triathlon and Aquathlon - Entries now open

The 2026 North Berwick Novice Triathlon/Aquathlon&nbsp; will be held on Sunday 24th May at 9am.

The North Berwick Novice Triathlon remains a popular event for individuals, families and friends who are new to triathlon or looking for a new achievement and this year we are adding an Aquathlon which will be open to all ages utilising the school playing fields next to the leisure centre for our traffic free run route.

East Lothian Triathlon Club brought plenty of energy to the Whitekirk Hill parkrun this weekend, taking on one of East Lothian’s most challenging courses with trademark enthusiasm. With our very own Jeremy Milne expertly directing the event and Coach Redpath volunteering and cheering athletes on from start to finish, the club was out in force both on and off the course. Despite the tough climbs, everyone dug deep, sprinted hard, and gave it their all. The verdict from those taking part? In the immortal words of pop icon Tina Turner, this parkrun is simply the best.

New Year, New Milestones at Edinburgh Triathlon’s 30th Anniversary

Taking part in the New Year’s Day Triathlon in Edinburgh is always a memorable way to start the year, but this year’s event felt particularly special as it marked the 30th anniversary of the race. With cold conditions, and a strong field of competitors, it delivered everything that makes winter triathlon such a unique challenge.

On a personal note, I was particularly pleased with my performance on the run, recording my fastest time on this course to date. It was especially satisfying to see clear progress in an area I’ve been working hard to improve and have found challenging for some time, making the result feel like a real step forward.

What made the day truly memorable, however, was the presence and spirit of East Lothian Triathlon Club, with ten club members taking part. From the first wave to the final finishers, there was a fantastic atmosphere of encouragement and camaraderie, with athletes supporting one another before, during and after the race.

For many, it was a day of personal bests, showing that winter racing can still produce standout performances. One particularly inspiring moment came from Zain, who recorded a faster time than he had achieved ten years ago, a testament to long-term commitment and consistency in the sport.

There were also strong examples of resilience and determination. Hannah battled through adversity after suffering a puncture, having to run back to transition before continuing the race — and still completing the event. Meanwhile, Craig took on the course racing alongside his son, a reminder of how triathlon can be as much about shared experiences as individual results.

The day also marked a major milestone for John, who successfully completed his first ever triathlon, adding another highlight to an already memorable club outing.

With spectators lining the course, athletes braving the cold, and a strong sense of celebration marking three decades of the event, the New Year’s Day Triathlon once again proved why it holds such a special place in the Scottish triathlon calendar.

It was a brilliant way to welcome the new year — challenging, rewarding, and full of moments that remind&nbsp;us&nbsp;why&nbsp;we&nbsp;race.
